12/06/06:  Mars pictures show streams

New photographs from space show that water might flow on Mars.  This shows that the planet can have life form.   The pictures were taken by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor.  There are changes in craters from images taken seven years ago.  Scientists believe that long ago Mars was awashed with pools of water. They have seen water ice but never seen water in liquid form.   In past exploration missions have tried to determine if Mars once contained life or could support now. 

12/07/06Matches allowed on airlines

With all the things that are not allowed on the plane, matches are allowed.  A woman boarded an American Airlines flight from Washington to Dallas with four books of flammable matches. But when she tried to light them to get rid of the smell when she farted she was breaking the rules.   She was kicked off the plane.  Liquids, gummy bears, and whipped cream are banned because explosives can be put into the containers.

12/06/06:  59 kid brawl in Union Square

50 kids broke into a fight ending with one teenager stabbed to death in Union Square Park.  Taishawn Bellevue was pronounced dead at St. Vincent's Hospital after he was stabbed in the chest.   Glenwood Nobles was stabbed several times in the back and is in stable condition.   Carlos Tejada was hit in the back of the head with a brick that left him with a three inch gash.  The fight started because of beef between students from Science Skills and Washington Irving.

 

 

 

12/06/06:  Oregon man found dead

The man from San Francisco who was stranded with his family was found dead.  The body of James Kim was found in Oregon's Klamath Mountains two days after his family was found.  Their car was stuck off a logging road.  Kim went to find help for his wife and his two children.  The family were in the car for nine days in the cold.  The 35 year old husband was found a mile away from the car.  Kim had items on his trail but freezing people develop hypothermia that makes them feel warm causing them to undress.
